I vividly remember how my mind would trick me into thinking that: ” What wrong have I done to incur the wrath of such painful Waswas about Allah and Waswas about Prophet Muhammad ( May peace Be Upon Him) .
Has this question ever crossed your mind as well?
I am sure you must have asked this question to yourself since a person’s first response to a calamity is to try to seek a justification in his mind for that event. Under the same deeply wired humanly instinct, we ask for an explanation behind any event that has occurred in our life ; especially if that is a sad event of loss of Love , Life or money .
Read here a classic Case of Human emotions being vented in the same vein :
“Four years ago a guy proposed me, but I refused him as I did not want a haram relationship. Many times he asked me for marriage, and I said I would talk to my parents about it. He said after he completed his studies he would ask my parents for marriage. We were in the same university, so we were in contact. He had a fight with his parents. Whenever he talked to them for marriage, they said no, and he was tensed. One day we had a fight, and he left me. He said our marriage is not looking possible to him, and he’s fed up with our fights. I prayed to Allah that he comes back to me and gets married to me. For 3 months, all night I keep praying. I pray regularly 5 times. I read Qur’an daily. I’m a good Muslim, and the only sin I have done is getting physical with him. A thousand times I have asked Allah for forgiveness, but Allah never listens to me.
I don’t want to to get married to anyone else. I don’t want any other guy to touch me. I always imagined him as my husband, and always prayed to Allah that I get married to that guy. I had trust in Allah; I knew Allah would never do this to me. But Allah did this. Now I don’t feel like praying or reading Qur’an. I’m shattered and broken. I feel like Allah is not with me. I have wished for something, and this is the first time I asked Allah for something this desperately. I pray and cry all night in sujood, but Allah is not listening to me. I was so attached to Allah and used to love Allah so much, but now I feel disconnected with Allah and I don’t love Him. I don’t want to say this, but yes I don’t love Him anymore. “
May Allah have Mercy on the sister whose case we read above –
Now we Look at this from another angle – Let’s explore why is it that out of 6 Billion people who are breathing in this world , you were chosen to become a target of a calamity or Was’was ?
Read the Reply in the words of Shaikhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) :
“Waswaas is something that happens to everyone who turns to Allah in Dhikr. It will inevitably happen to him. So he should be steadfast and remain patient, and persist in his Dhikr and prayer, and not give up, for, by persisting in it he will foil the plot of the Shaytan and, ‘ever feeble indeed is the plotofShaytan.’[Soorah an-Nisa(4): 76]
Shaikh’s explanation clearly conveys to us that Shaitan like a robber is after the person who is carrying the wealth of Eemaán in his heart – The Shaitaán is the most persistent of the bandits you shall ever experience in your spiritual life since he would not stop unless he has robbed you off from every penny of any goodness and faith in your heart –
How do I know this ?
I know this, since I have heard Shaitan’s own confession in the glorious Quraan :
“Surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e. they will not be dutiful to You).” [Soorah al-A’raf(7): 16-17] “
And here is the reason why Was’was don’t disturb the people who are lacking Eemaan usually:
Hence it was asked from a salf , ‘The Jews and the Christians say, we don’t experience waswaas. He replied,‘They are right! What would Shaytan do with a ruined house?’[Majmoo al-Fatawa(22/608)]
So , now you are getting clear , why you are becoming a victim of Was’was ! So if we think it positively then:
” Was was are an indication Eemaán in your heart, which shaitan wants to steal ; but he shan’t Insha-Allah , if you stay focused and fill your heart with hope from Allah taála “
It’s time that you revive your Eemaán and seek strength from him to beat this spiritual onslaught of shaitan’against you by including this Dua in your daily set of prayers :
Translation :
“In the Name ofAllah, I place my trust upon Allah, There is no power, nor movement except by Allah.”
Anas ( R.A) reports that Allah’s Messenger said, “Whoever says (this dua when he leaves his house), It is said to him, “You have been sufficed, you have been protected and you have been guided.” Thenone of the devils turns to another and says, “How can you get to a man who has been sufficed, protected and guided.” [Abu Dawood, at-Tirmidhee (hasan saheeh).
